It is also enjoyable and calming. when I listen to music. I usually listen to music with earphones because I don't want to bother anyone.

Maui and the Ra
Hey guys today I am going to show tell you guys the story about Maui and the Ra or Maui and the sun, you might realise the maori words. That's because I made it more challenging for you guys to understand and to test how much you know about te reo Maori here is my writing
Once upon a time There lived a man call Maui and his 4 other Tuakāna, they lived In an
Iwi and they did everything together, But every day the Rā Seemed to make the daytime shorter.
Maui was so annoyed with the Rā. He wanted to Mau The Ra so that he was slower in daytime so he gathered his Tuākana and they planned to leave the village at sunrise to Mau the Rā. So Maui and his Tuākana got some flax to use when they were going to Mau the Rā.
Early in the morning Maui and his tuākana took off to where the Rā always rose from with their flax ropes . Soon they realized the pūmāhu was getting warmer, after they saw the Rā getting ready to rise so they built a wall of pōhatu then got into position.
The Ra rose and rose, everything got Hotter and hotter. Maui pulled out his hook (jaw of his tupuna tāne) and he told his Tuākana to throw out the flax ropes to stop the Rā from escaping. Maui stood on the wall of pōhatu, he raised his hook, he smacked the Rā on the ihu. He smacked him again then shouted “You gonna slow down from now on?” The Rā cried and shouted “YES! Now let me go my ihu hurts” Maui and his Tuākana didn’t let him go because they didn't trust the Rā so they used the flax ropes to drag him to the village.
The Rā never went fast ever again and from that day he was giving Maui and his tuākana enough daytime.
The end

Cool facts about the Akita
Kia ora Bloggers,
Today I am going to tell you guys what the Akita dog breed is and I hope you enjoy.
The Akita is a dog breed with 2 types of Akita's, the first one is the normal Akita inu or the Japanese Akita and the American Akita.
the difference between the cousins is that The american Akita is a larger breed then it’s cousin the Akita inu and also the American Akita is a Dog has loose skin and it is more bulky then the Akita inu and their eye shape is different. To describe The akita in many words here are words I would describe it with, Strong, calm, humble, Obedient, Huge, Hairy, Rare, Loyal, Intelligent,
Faithful, stubborn, Quite, silly, independent and hardwired.
The Akita cousins come in different colours, here is a list of their coat colours.
Akita inu: brindle, silver brindle, black brindle, red & silver brindle, red, golden and white.
American Akita: Red/brown, Fawn, black brindle, red brindle, silver, fawn brindle.
The Akita has 2 types of coats, The Akita Sheds the undercoat (blow-coat) every year and twice a year times a year which makes a huge mess.
The dogs with double coats shed or blow their coat because in the summertime it is really hot for them if their under coat stays on but their hair grows back before winter.
The Akita has Lot of hair, which means some American Akita are called long coat American Akita. The long coat American Akita has really long hair, it looks like it is covering its eyes and the tail has the most hair. It looks like this,
The Akita's personality is different from other dogs, The Akita Are quiet dogs which means they don’t usually bark like other dogs. They share their silliness and they are always funny to their family and friends. The Akita are also protective with their loved ones, they are Independent-thinking dogs and are really intelligent and smart.
The Akita are bulky dogs, that means they fear nothing and they are really brave, they are also overprotective. They are sometimes aggressive especially when they are in a fight with other dogs.
The best two facts I love about the Akita is that the Akita are just like Huskies, they are really strong and used for snow work, also Akita are known for their really HUGE size, people fear their size alone because their size is unbelievable.

Olympics Fan Zone Trip
Hi bloggers!
Today my class and I went to the Olympics fan zone for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. We had so much fun and we enjoyed it, when we entered the building we went then we met one of the Olympians that competed in the Olympics in 2007/2008 for New Zealand in Triathlon. Her name was Debbie Tanner, we asked her some questions and some of them were really interesting.
Debbie Tanner said she didn't expect to compete in Triathlon but she said she really loved the sport because it was made of 3 other sports, it was swimming, running, and cycling. Her favourite one was running because when she ran she would run through forests, beaches and many other places.
After we got to get free time with the games in the building. one of my favourite games was playing on the basketball machine. after we went to the other side of the building then we had more fun there. We had challenges relay races and many more.
At the end we watched the men's rowing game, The best thing was that NEW ZEALAND CAME SECOND!! I didn't believe it because the beginning was pretty sketchy. After that we came back to school.
Something I enjoyed was playing on the basketball machine because it was fun and my buddy was surprised when we got to stage 2 of the game.
Something I learnt at the Olympic fan zone was that it is very hard to be an Olympian because you have to stay healthy and fit for the game and you will have to stay on a balanced diet.
Here are some pictures of when we were on the trip.

Wonder project
Kia ora
This term the seniors at Hay Park have been learning about rockets and physics. We learnt a lot about the forces that make the rocket launch/fly. We talked a lot about the parts of a rocket and the important ones, when we were done we got to make paper air planes and we found out how to improve it. We used air and water to launch the rocket so we learnt about how many water you should put in, if we put in too much the rocket will be too heavy, our air limit was 60 psi because if it went over it would be very dangerous. We also learnt about how to keep yourself and others safe, some of them were:
Keep the rocket at a angle when you are about to launch it.
A supervisor must be watching you.
There were many more ways to keep others and yourself safe . My favourite part of the project was creating the rocket and modifying it but before we created it we planned all the parts. It was fun because we were being creative and we did it with teamwork.
Something that was challenging was when we had to measure our fins to make sure they were the same size. some of the fins I made wasn't the same size and I had to make it again.
I wish I could do this again but I would want give other seniors a opportunity and I hope they have fun
Thank you for reading Bye!!

Waka hourua
Kia ora!
My name is Pita and today I will be describing- my class’s waka.
Our waka hourua is huge and fast. Capacity weight can hold 20 people.
Our waka hourua has 2 strong sails that can hold the wind, it is also made out of flax. Our Waka hourua has a hut on the centre of the beam (between the two sails). It can fit storage and also it can fit the whole class. Our waka hourua is really fast, faster than Captain Cook's Endeavour. The two hulls are really light and they make the beam high enough. The hulls are also made out of Totara trees which is why the hulls are light because totara trees are lighter than the Kauri trees.
As we are part of the waka crew Paterson class members all have their own jobs. I am a warrior/guard, I help the captain guard the waka. I also keep everyone safe. Here is an image of my own waka.

Navigators/wayfinders
Kia ora Bloggers
This week my class and I have been learning about Polynesian navigators.
Polynesian navigators were smart and creative. They travelled and they respected each other.
They are really important to the Polynesian people, they were intelligent and they used birds to find land. When they would find land they would help each other, they respected the land and they kept their waka/canoe in a good condition until it was time to use them again. During the adventures of the navigators, the navigators didn’t use any technology/devices or google, they used the animals, the wind and the stars.
One of the important things that the navigators needed to know was the star compass. A star compass was similar to the compasses we use these days but the one that the navigators used was hard to remember because the navigators had to memorise them in their head because they couldn't see the star compass. Matariki is a star cluster that is important to Maori people AND the Polynesians because in the beginning the people from hawaiiki used Matariki to navigate. When the navigators saw leaves floating around in the sea, they knew they were near land and when they saw birds they also knew they were close to land. They can find clues from land from about 80 kilometres away.
At night they used up the time and they looked at the stars to see where they were, because in their times they didn’t have any devices so the navigators used the stars. The navigators sailed by wind. They knew when it was time to sail because the wind was blowing from the opposite side from the way they wanted to go. Navigators used many techniques to find land. When they found land, they would keep some people there then they would travel and find more land.

Exquisite Sentence
Hi bloggers!
Today I am going to be telling you guys about rockets and space. As we were learning about rockets and about space we talked through what a verb, adjective and noun is. We also talked about the subject. We learnt about rockets and equipment that they need. After we talked about space and we wrote about it, I wrote a lot but this sentence was my favourite one. Here's my work.
The best thing about space is that it looks like you're in a dream, another reason is because the stars are brighter than normal light bulbs.
